What I do when I'm sick
I sleep. Because that is how your body heals. I hydrate. Because that is how you get the gunk out. I do research. Because even though I’m contagious, I can still log in and get something done, the internet doesn’t care that I’m sick!
So today, it was… View Post

Mark Shafer's "A plan to challenge the Facebook...
I really enjoyed Mark Schaefer’s most recent blog post “A plan to challenge the Facebook monopoly”. He makes a few points that must continue to be driven home:
Facebook is not a technology
Facebook is a lifestyle
People don’t want another Facebook. …

Social Slam 2013 Schedule
Well, I’m having a mental fit. I want to go to SoSlam on April 5th to hear all of the wonderful speakers… but it’s likely that I’ll be in a new job then and probably shouldn’t ask for time off.
See the 2013 Scheduleand sign up. Then maybe we can meet… View Post

10 ways your teenager is using the Internet | Marketplace.org.
Thinking of some content I’ve been asked to supply for one of my volunteer gigs. I wasn’t sure I was capable of helping a team of social media folks reaching out to local teens. But then…… View Post

Hobbit Poster - New Products - Posters - Products... →
I’m giving my son this poster along with the very copy of the Hobbit his grandfather, then I, read. Will tidy it up with the LOTR triolgy. I think this is going to be more meaningful for me than him!
But, he does know he has to read the book before he’s allowed to see the movie!
Is there such a thing as too much work?
It’s been a long last few couple of months. Work drying up - wondering what I was going to do this Winter. Then the pendulum swings the complete other way and work is being crammed down my throat. I was just chugging away at my job and not having the time to reflect and explore. Being in rectionary mode is not my preferred way to do business, but when work comes at you from all sides,...

More Book Spine Poetry! →
From the web site: The Eerdmans blog put me on to this gallery of book spine poems. I’ve never heard of such a thing before, but I think it’s a wonderful idea. Luckily, in my house there are books everywhere: and there is almost no method of organisation. On the same shelf you might find Harry Potter, plus a toddler’s picture book, plus a book of prayers and something about...

The Spine Poem Gallery →
From the website - National Poetry Month 2012 has arrived, and we’re celebrating with book spine poetry. Three (maybe even four) cheers for everyone who gave it a try. But the month has just started – if you try book spine poetry during the month of April, snap a picture, post it to your blog, or email it to me at scopenotes at gmail dot com. I’ll add to this gallery for the entire month.

Occupy Wall Street Hackathons Produce Digital... →
Groups of programmers gathered in three cities this weekend to build digital tools for the Occupy Wall Street movement. Several of those tools have already launched, and in many cases they’re being maintained by activists who’ve never held a sign in a park. “I was waiting to see how I should b…

A dream we all dream of →
Who doesn’t want a library in your own home? This is the real deal! I will have one of these eventually. Books are true treasures and eventually, after the EMPs wipe out all of the gadgets, we’ll go back to sharing via books.
Many of us already have libraries and just don’t realize it. Do you have recipe cards? Photo albums? (or in my case after child2, boxes of photos?)
